For the first time in Saint Rémy de Provence, those who wish to do so can rent an 18th century historical Provençal farmhouse, or mas, restored by the Lafourcade family and experience the Lafourcade style. Mas le Gaudre is a tranquil place where every visitor feels at peace – where harmony and serenity create authentic and lasting memories. We have designed this place to be a luxury holiday house in the heart of Saint Rémy de Provence. It is a place where bonds are strengthened and conviviality reigns, featuring timeless classic architecture.

We’ve worked hard to create an atmosphere that is conducive to relaxation, an environment where people can spend quality moments together. There is a good balance between rooms designed for privacy and those for spending time with family and friends. The aim is for each guest to feel as though they are part of our story, in an environment designed just for them and in line with the landscape. A place where we take the time to live each moment to the full.

Mas le Gaudre is located on the doorstep of the Saint Rémy de Provence countryside

It’s a magnificent place that inspires people to get together, celebrate or recharge their batteries. The big spaces, big tables, the living room with the grand piano, the playroom for children…they all invite people to be together, with the possibility to have moments of their own as well. The house and the garden have been designed to enjoy both peace and quiet or celebration and gathering. This contrast can also be found in our surroundings. We enjoy every advantage that the countryside can offer – peace and quiet and access by foot to incredible walks in Massif des Alpilles, combined with all the benefits of being near a village with shops, restaurants and plenty of activities.

My parents are pioneers of French restoration work and lifestyle

The first time they saw this ruined house they fell in love and wanted to renovate it for our family. They wanted a place for us to gather for family reunions – birthdays, Christmas and more. Eventually it became a professional project, but keeping the same intention, a place for families to gather. Mas le Gaudre is for those who are looking for authenticity, a real Mas lovingly renovated by locals who have generation of experience in the region and who understand what it means to inhabit a Mas in Provence.

We didn’t want to simply create a beautiful place to stay

As the step daughter of a renowned architect I want guests to experience what is like to stay in a historic building carefully renovated by my family. To experience the attention to detail and the interiors and gardens that they are famous for. Of course, once you are here it is all about you and making sure we create exactly the experience you desire. But we want the thoughtfulness and the magic of the environment that has been so lovingly restored to be a character in your holiday experience.

We brought specialists in to cleanse the Mas and place carefully chosen crystals and stones in each room to maximise the benefits of a stay here. Every little detail has been thought about in every part of decoration and furnishing. Nothing has been left to chance, and it is all always centred on respecting the history and environment of a Provençal Mas.

The Mas le Gaudre blends perfectly into its surroundings, giving the impression that it has always been there.

Mas buildings like ours have been in this area of France since the Middle Ages. Their evolution since then is representative of how the community has evolved. Now, our Mas le Gaudre continues to hold its place in history and gives others the chance to become a part of that story. It is a natural house: stone, wood, terracotta, and brick are all soothing materials that breathe and develop a patina over time. The whitewash, shutters, and soft colours echo the subtle hues of the foliage in the gardens. It is a beautiful light-filled house, perfect to live in, summer and winter alike.
